On this page you will find accommodation, eateries and things to do that are truly dog friendly!
We pretty much don’t go if we can’t take our dogs, so are always on the lookout for places where both the humans and pups can be pampered and have a great relaxed time.
And yes, we have had some less than good experiences….. As the description doesn’t always match the experience, or the business just doesn’t understand dogs properly!
But, everywhere showcased below are places we have gone to with our pups Dutch and Maaike as regular paying customers. We don’t allow advertising on this page, and we do not accept “freebies” for mention. If we have not gone there as regular paying customers and loved the experience, it won’t get a recommendation!
Many of the places on this page we have gone back to on numerous occasions!
Being properly dog friendly for us means the accommodation listed has plenty of room, allows the dogs inside with no restrictions and the yard is secure and well fenced. Some really go the extra mile to make sure the pups have the best time!
From our experience, the cafes, restaurants, wineries and breweries listed are all truly happy to welcome the pups, ensure that you all have space to relax, may have doggy items on the menu and importantly the staff will treat the pups like VIP guests, not an inconvenience!
We hope you give these great places a try and have the same amazing experience that we have had, we would love to hear from you after you have visited yourselves!
Dog About Days
Without doubt the most dog friendly accommodation we have ever stayed at! And it’s really awesome for the humans too!
The hosts, Emma and Sara are long time dog parents and dog lovers, and this really shows as they lay on everything your pups need to have a fun and relaxing stay, from the doggy toy box, to the multiple inside and outside dog beds and the arrival goodies with dog treats!
The one-bedroom home is really well appointed and stocked with everything you could possibly need. The outdoor deck area is cool and breezy in summer, and they enclose it to be cosy in winter with the heater and wood fire. (We have stayed and enjoyed both summer and winter). There is a larger deck area around which our dogs enjoy playing on and lazing around! And the garden is just amazing! Dutch and Maaike (and previously Duncan) spent ages exploring around the trees and bushes and running around the paths. The bottom of the garden is quite steep, but with plenty flat spots and stairs leading down. The whole property is extremely well fenced, and you can close off access to the garden with a gate at the edge of the large deck. The garden is nice and secure with good farm style wire fencing.
For the humans there is a fantastic undercover and private heated spa, understandably no dogs allowed in the spa though! (much to Miss Maaike’s distaste).
Quick and easy to get to, located just 10 minutes up the freeway at Upper Sturt, but it feels like a world away when you are sitting on the deck overlooking the garden surrounded by your happy pups. And there are plenty of dog friendly places to go just nearby if you feel you need venture out!
This is a wonderful place to stay, and we really do highly recommend!
